Travelling to this destination, only 1.5hrs west of Sydney, the beauty unfolds as you wind around the Mountains by road or rail and climb to 1000 metres above sea level. The air is crisper, fresher, and certainly cooler than the plains of the Sydney basin far below.

As you make your way across the Blue Mountains, as Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson did in 1813-15, you will find that the villages are set on top of the mountain ridges with Katoomba as the major town of the Blue Mountains.
